Antique Japanese Tansu Chest Meiji Era c190's Ishodansu Kiri 36" (base not included) Jar 1850) gold and red lacquerThis late Meiji Era or early Taisho era (c1900 1920's) clothing chest or Ishodansu was originally the top part of a three piece tansu. In all there are 3 drawers and a cabinet with sliding doors. Bronze hardware pulls. We can add a custom iron base (+$295). The sample pictured is about 7" high and brings the piece up to a convenient 23". Locally made by a welding artist that we have worked with for over 20 years. Legs have a subtle but elegant flare.
