George Forrest Plant Hunter. (1872-1956) was an Australian orchidBrenda McLean. Scotsman George Forrest, 1873 1932, was one of the most intrepid and successful plant hunters of the twentieth century. He first went to China in 1904, to the then remote Sino Himalayan region, and over the ensuing years he collected over 31,000 herbarium specimens and introduced hundreds of new plants to cultivation in Europe, especially Rhododendrons.
