Tohe Tamata Pō te Ao simply meansThis mini kete whakairo has been created using harakeke (flax) harvested from Omaka in Blenheim. The flax has been boiled and dyed to preserve it, and has been created in the style of takitahi with striped diagonal bands. The colour used was forest green. Tohe means 'to persist' and it was through the work of creating the muka kiwai (handles) that the artist felt that persistence paid off. Toi size (approximate): Height: 13 cmWidth: 24 cm
