ARTHUR handwritten check signed and dated on The Nassau Bank checkstock. Arthur writes a check on March 25, 1874 for $1000, payable to A. B. Cornell. Cornell's handwritten endorsement and signature are on the verso. Alonzo B. Cornell would subsequently go on to become the 27th Governor of New York just 4 years later. In March of 1874, Arthur was working as the Collector of Customs at the Port of New York.
