An Excavated 14th / 15th Century Medieval Rowel Spur - Spur289 may25 There is a silver buttonA Mediaeval spur in excavated condition, this spur has a small rowel which still turns, although it has lost five of its original eight points. It has a short neck with a pointed protrusion above it. The arms of the spur are deeply curved to pass below the rider's ankle. One arm ends in two eyelets, the other has lost its end. The surface of the spur is dark and somewhat pitted, but it has been cleaned and preserved, so should not deteriorate further.
