It is a rectangular shaped brooch with a zig zag and beaded rim. The centre is engraved in the aesthetic manner and features a pair of herons by the water, one standing and one in flight. It is quite a chunky brooch but it is hollow so it is lightweight and easy to wear. It has an old C type clasp fastener.
