English or Scottish Hepplewhite mahogany shield back side chair (c. 1780) All Sculpture set in a sterling silverSingle Hepplewhite mahogany shield back side chair with over rail upholstered seat on molded square tapered front legs and raked rear legs. The pierced rails of the shield back are defined by a thistle silhouette centered on a satinwood inlaid fan at the base of the shield. The seat has been reupholstered using traditional horse hair fill. English or Scottish, circa 1780. Condition: Very good overall condition. The rear of the top rail has a ding.
